This morning I discovered my one oscar and Deacon have a couple of white spots on them, I got the muti, anti ich and dosed the tank to treat 400l of water, i also put in about 100g od coarse sea salt. I have recently dropped my tank temperature from 28 to 26. (about 10 days ago). The tank is now blue. I am worried that the fish will not survive. How long do i keep the water like that about 2 days? Must I do a water change after the treatment? And how much. I checked my ph (borehole water) about 7.8 to 8. Is this okay for my chiclits?

what has worked for me was doing a 30% water change, add the meds, then turn up my temp to 30 deg..

the reason for turnin the temp up is to quicken the white spot virus's life cycle..the blue meds prevents the whitespots from repro again.

also, leave all the fish in the tank so that the meds can kill all paracites.

im not sure bout the ph though

    Hi Oosie,
I recently made the same mistake you did and ALL I did was increase the temp and do a water change.

It is suggested that you do not do a big water change unless the fish are healthy again as this will stress them out and possibly cause the ick to start all over, unfortunately I learned of this after I did my water change, and thankfully nothing bad happened.

Anyhoo, 4 days of increasing my temp to 29 and all was good in fishy land again with no losses :)

I don't know about the blue water oosie, as I didn't use meds.
You can still feed them, but watch how much you feed them and how much they eat. I don't know if fish loose their appetites when they're sick like we do.

I'm kinda hoping someone more experienced will jump in and help you.

Sorry Oosie, that's all I can give you.

personally i would increase the temp to 30deg and add aquarium salt (1 teaspoon for every 30 litre).after a week you can turn down the temp to normal (27deg always work for my cichlids) and after 2 weeks you can start doing water changes again.
