Hey guys. I'm new here and new in fishkeeping. Can anyone tell me what is with the white ugly line on my catfish? It appeared overnight. Is it an injury or an infection? How do I treat it? His roomates look fine. IMG_20200331_201805.jpg

    Hi @Daniki

    Welcome to the Forum!

Little difficult to make out from the picture but looks to me like he might have scratched himself against something sharp especially if it appeared overnight

    Who are his room mates?

4 yoyo loach, 5 cardinal tetras and 2 guppies, and a lovely pair of kribs. They all get along very well. The catfish is by far the biggest fish of them all. This injury appeared the day after a water change. I took his submarine out to do a proper gravel vacuum. This might have been my fault. Do I have to treat that injury or will it heal by itself?

Is your heater exposed and does he ever sit next to it? Otherwise could be a bad scratch, just make sure to keep the water extra clean over the coming weeks and he should recover. I have a featherfin too, they're tough suckers ;)

Yes the Heater is exposed. He does spend some time between the heater and the glass. Before I got him the submarine, he sat next to the heater all the time. I really don't want to lose him. He's the pride and joy of my tank even though he's really shy and only comes out when there's no one around.

Doesn't look too deep, and if he hides in the sub I doubt it's heater burn. As I said before, clean water will be the best here

    Welcome to the Forum

You do get plastic heater guards which help prevent this sort of injury happening.
Go to your lfs after lockdown has ended and see if you can get one.

In the mean time, as has been suggested, good clean water will probably be the best

Hey everyone. Thx for the advice. I do a 50/25% water change every week and clean the filter every 2 weeks(the week I do 25%).
I attached a picture of my fishtank. Like never before the little monster got out just when I was taking the picture.
I know it's not the perfect layout but I'm open for suggestions. ThxIMG_20200401_093425.jpg
