    Hi All

my plecostomus has white dots on their eyes, in fact all 3 of them.

Some chaps are telling me they are like that and their is nothing to be concerned about.

I just got this tank on sunday with these fish so i am learning as we go along here.

    Any ideas here?

P.S. the other fish dont have any white dots on the eyesIMG-20120327-00409.jpg

Well I might be wrong but my old plec and the new one has them, so I guess it is part of it. Have you seen him blink his eyes yet? Something to see on such a fish :)

No problem - it's just the shape of the iris of Plec/Ancistrus species - protects their eyes from light....

LOL All Pleco's come with that :)
I think it's a reflection of light actually this is why it seems like the white spots follow you...

Not quite @RFSwanepoel("I think it's a reflection of light actually ") - it is the "iris" of the fish.... careful observation under differing light conditions will reveal that it is present in strong light and retarcts in very dim conditions... as for it "Following" you - think of it in an evolutionary way.... there are major predators in the waters they come from,so it has evolved with eyes situated on top of it's head with really convex eyeballs - giving them almost 360 degree view to look out for predators...

Now depending where your viewpoint relative to the Plec's eyes are,and the change in angle, the extreme convex shape can make it appear as if the "White Dots" are following you....
