Which Pleco?

Hi all a guy wants to sell this to me he told me its a candy striped pleco or something? can anyone confirm or give the right ID? im sorry for the terrible quality but thats all i got sent

 

whats his price? looks like some kind of pleco in the hypancistrus family. quite rare fish

 

It's lovely! It looks a lot like some I got recently which are Peckoltia compta, but "candy striped pleco" is usually a name used for Peckoltia vittata. I think it could be either one, and they're both lovely fish. Very similar, both get to about 10 cm, prefer meaty foods, P.compta prefers temperatures a degree or two higher than P.vittata but really shouldn't be an issue. Check them both out on planetcatfish. They are very similar to the Hypancistrus species, maybe a little bolder in temperament. I say go for it, I absolutely love my P.comptas.

Hey @morris, I think I'd be inclined to agree with you. Specially since OP is in Centurion and that's where I got my guys. Maybe they're from the same batch!

 

mines from a guy whos dad is a breeder dunno where he got but hes offering me 200 for it whats their temprement to bottom feeders?

 

he was keeping it in a tank with a betta and offered me it since he doesnt want him any more

 

thats a VERY good price for that pleco. they are fine with orher bottom feeders

i did hear the price wrong tho he said he'll come back to me with it again...

so the guy came back to me he said round about 400. I was wondering tho if anyone here would want him maybe cause im scared he'll hurt my banjo cat or other bottom feeders... or is that actually not a worry?

 

he wont do anything to you bottom feeders. and you will regret not having him haha
