Which is best?

    Hi.

    Just a quick question...

    Which would be better as substrate for a planted tank:
    Pool filter sand or Fine play sand

    Pool filter sand.

    I find the play sand too fine and the roots starve from lack of water movement.

    Same thing. Silica sand, just the grain size may or may not differ. If you do get playpen sand, make sure it doesn't have anti-bacterial agents or disinfectants
