    Hi all

I am looking for a digital ph reader in cape town / northern suburbs area. Alternatively i don’t mind buying online if I have to.

    Any recommendations and suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

These cheap ph meters are useless with cape town water as they don't give a accurate reading with soft water. I had to invest in a Milwaukee.

    Here's the proof.

Where you get the Milwaukee from. That company spraytech is around the corner from me?

Yes from spraytech. R2200 later haha.

Unfortunately yes, they might have one left though. I got the second last one they had in stock. They said it won't affect the warranty or service. The new model is a lot more expensive.

    Hi @BoelderBeestie,

Do you think the same counts when measuring RO water? I understand our municipal water to be soft....

    Same story. Check, this:

IMG_20180501_093741.jpg liquid says 6.4, fancy meter says 6.25 and the pen says 7.8. Fork out the money for a good meter, or a liquid test isn't too expensive either

Oh yes, RO is as soft as it gets, my pen says my RO is at a ph of 9.8 hahaha, the Milwaukee says 6.9-7.

No doubt the Milwaukee's are better but out of curiosity are the PH pens calibrated?

Yes, I calibrated the pen and mil before my test, I also checked both afterwards and it read the calibration fluid perfectly. The pen only has a one point calibration at ph7, the Mil has a two point at 4 and 7 and also has temp compensation.

Surprising results,it's hard to believe the PH pens are out by such a big margin. My PH pen has messed me around a bit in the past I think it's time to invest in something better.

Got to love this forum and the effort people put in to get things right.Nice work!!

I've used the liquid tests with good results before I got this thing. Even the cheap "universal" test works well. It won't give you say 6.75 but you'll see if it's between 6-7. The only reason I got the Mil was to match my water perfectly for wc's on fry, ph fluctuations = retarded discus babas.
