Wanted: Where to buy Styrofoam for base of tank - Durban

Recently got a new tank and I want to add a base to it (3FT). Does anyone know which companies in Durban sell Styrofoam that will be suitable? Also, what thickness is recommended?

A base of 1-1.5cm would be good for that tank. Try your local hardware store or PNA could be a good bet.

Try an art shop.

 

The reason polystyrene or Styrofoam is used is to prevent cracks occurring in the bottom pane of glass. The foam provides a level base that prevents the glass from stressing and eventually breaking. So I guess a yoga mat would work just as well.

The closest PNA branch to me is a 1 hour drive so that's out.

Id go with any Mica hard ware store. Thats the place I find is the cheepest where I am from.
