So I was recently having one of those day dream sessions where I'm sure like most you catch yourself thinking about your fish more then anything else and for some reason I suddenly had a brain fart, I was thinking about the fact that a lot of fish tend to breed/spawn in the community aquarium and most times we don't even know about it, so I pondered the idea of some how being able to produce a spawn safely in that kind of set up and an idea jumped into my head, generally as I do I am guessing most of us have those little box filters that come with a small tank that we don't use cause we prefer the sponge filters so this is what I came up with ...[IMG]

    Took an empty box filter

And a piece of plastic grid , added the 2 together and made a sort of fish proof clear box like this

Added a little java moss on the top and dropped it into a tank which only has cherry barbs and white clouds in

Figured these fish would be good to test it out as they are generally pretty easy to breed as far as egg spawners go .

Now to wait and see what happens... will keep you updated.

Inside the container.. Don't wanna take a chance with the eggs landing up in a potentially slimy area that doesn't get the greatest flow. But that's just the thoughts popping into my mind. No supporting evidence :)

Not good, find a glue that holds and not dangerous to fish.... Still keep us up dated please.

So a quick update , the fish seem to be very interested in the little box with java moss sticking out of it , the only problem I have had so far is that the white clouds are small enough to get in through the mesh so I will seperate the white clouds and cherry barbs and try again using my so called egg trap with just the cherry barbs and see how that goes. uploadfromtaptalk1472884589978.jpg
