when awarding rep to someone - please leave your name in your message.

hi guys, if i may make a suggestion, when adding rep to someone, please leave your name as well, i've noticed that many times when people add rep to me they dont leave their names, and i like to return the favour and say thanks, but i cant do that if you dont leave your name because i dont know who you are.

that is exactly why they should not leave their names... it will corrupt the system (if you just want to reward rep to return the favour.)

 

Must say I agree with this. But it is still up to you to give rep based on good advice and tacticts people share as oposed to favoritism.

I am sure @mydummyname has exactly this in mind. I also would like to know who the rep came from. Not for the return in favour seeing it's not a favour at all. Not in my mind anyway. Just recognition for good fishkeeping.

 

@Singularity, i'm sorry dude, but when you click on "add to rep" icon, it actually says, "may the recipient return the favour" or something along those lines.. so VBulletine actually thinks that there is no problem with that system or it wouldnt suggest that.

also, if someone agrees with what you posted, they add to your rep, that means that they may have learnt something, and to me, that in itself deserves a reward (because you get some people that never learn lol), and vbulletin's reward system is the rep power.

Yes, it does, but it also says may you be lucky enough to receive it, not give your name and kind of force the issue.
For instance, you went looking for a post to reward some rep points to Slomo just because he said he gave you rep... You see the problem ??
As soon as people post their names the rep system might aswell be deleted, and i am sure there is already people giving rep and leaving their name in the hope of boosting their rep in this way...
Nobody should actually look at the rep, rather look back through a persons previous posts or his tank to see if he knows what he is talking about.

 

dude as i said, its your perogative, if it makes you happy, do things as you feel best, i'm not looking for an argument or anything like that.
