Hey guys in sorry to bother. I just added a beautiful female guppy to my tank and she was fine and when I switched on the light this eve there were 3 rips in her tail. This is the second time this has happened and its only wen I add female guppies all my fish are fine no problems or deaths on months but every time a female guppy gets into the tank the tails splits and looks like it disintegrates what's going on?
    Thanks

Maybe put her into a net and watch them for a while just to see if it is the fish at all. Possibly a mating thing?

none of the other fish seem to be bothering her its just strange that its the same thing happening again with a female guppy. maybe she shouldnt be in there with two males?

    Get 4 to 6 females.
I think two males is too many for her.:p

Just a shot in the dark here, but sometimes a sudden pH change can cause fin fraying. The existing inhabitants might already have adjusted to an unsuitable pH over time whereas a new fish (especially guppies) can suffer severe fin damage if 'suddenly' exposed to it. Also, I find that having a ratio of at least three females to every male helps reduce stress (leading cause of most things that go wrong with my fish). Of course every tank is unique and this is all just from my personal experience. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the help guys I do think it could be the sudden ph change. She is looking good today her fins are already healing and she went crazy at feeding time so all seems good

i'd still recomend getting a few more ladies as your males could chase her to death. i used a 2;1 ratio with my guppies, when i still bought now theres just so many i dont need to buy, though i was sorely tempted with some blue and black ladies yesterday at the lfs. but i said no bad windfire walk away, it was real difficult, there was a panda corey

I think you should definately test your water. If there is something wrong with your water it should be sorted out. Even though your fish are surviving does not mean things are optimum.

How often do you do water changes and how big is a water change?
