What type of Water treatments/additives do you use e.g. Seachem prime, Bio Vital etc

Hi all.

Thought this would be a interesting thread.

I was wondering what us all use in our water, like I use Seachem prime for wc maybe mydummyname uses Tetra's brand.

When everyone does a wc lets say I add some stability with every wc and slomo adds bio vital with each wc.

Do all of us add something extra to our water on wc etc.

Come on all lets see what products we all use.

Just a general thread with what us all use.

Oh no and there I thought you where a Seachem only user you disappoint me LOL.
Just a question any reason you are using Aquasafe dechlor over Prime?:fight:

 

been useing tetra aqua safe,and 1g salt per 2 liter water for my discus tank
been useing prime and safe on and of lately,but still dont trust it,I know its good,but just feels wrong to add so little to so much water!

 

I use Tetra - Nitrate Minus, Nutrafin - AquaSafe and Nutrafin Cycle

 

Just grew up with it in the hobby. Don't fix something that's not broken. :ridinghorse:

Ag ja... You caught me out on that one. :vroam: Tried Stability and the rest is history. Will try prime sometime. Apparently you can buy in big drums aswell. Maybe just maybe. What size container do you buy?

 

LOL!!! yeah I also think I will rather stay with Stability the stuff is the BOMB!!! Tell me do you also put stability in your tank with each wc or only once monthly. I only buy like a 100ml or 250ml of each.

 

I add Stability once a month. Tank is cycled so I don't bother too much with bacteria issues now. No issues in my tank so I just add it for peace of mind.

The size container for prime you use?

 

Well my tank has been running for about a month and a half so I still add Stability once a week with my wc when do you think will it not be needed anymore to add it once a week and only monthly like you do.

At the moment I think I got 1 x 50ml bottle of prime and 100ml bottle of stability.

 

Aquasafe Dechlor and let the water stand for 2 days.

 

In my shop I run my incoming water through carbon and a particle filter. Use Organic Aqua products. Add in the health treatment evry 2nd or 3rd week water changes. Addi in the General treatment with each weekly change. Add in B-Bac every 6-8weeks or if I do a clean of my sump filter systems.

 

When I do my water change outside I prepare a week in advance with Prime and plenty of air.

And inside prepare 2hours in advance get my water from the filter takes out all the nasties and put Prime let it stand for 2hours and then add to tank

 

Prime is cheapest by far and goes much further than all other products on market... I found...long as the store is not ripping u off wit the price. Some stores charge double than others.

 

Seachem Safe powder for dechlor. (R160 tub will last me about 3 years!)

 

Seachem Prime double dosed (Pta water can be dodgy) and Crystal Algae Clear. 20% WC weekly

 

100% agree, safe is by FAR the most cost effective way of dechlorinating. Dont think shops want people to know this beacuse they will buy safe and wont need any more dechlorinating products for a year or two.

 

Hi Zoom, I am using Prime. Just a question how much powder will you use then on 1 single wc probably very little e.g like 2mg per 100liters of water

 

Im not sure on the dosage... but I know a good pinch of the stuff is overdosing for 100litre wc.

By far more cost effective than anything on the market.
