what size return pump for the sump

    I got a std 4ft tank and a 3ft tank as a sump. What would be a good size return pump to run in the sump? the water would have to be lifted 1.2m to get it back to the tank.

    Hey Butcherman -Std 4 foot is approx 270 Litres you need to cycle this approx 3 times an hour, SO 3 x 270 = 810 l/hr - so your pump should pump about 900l/hr at a 1,2m head. This is a relativley small pump - check out your local LPS and on the side of the box they give the spec in l/hr for a given head height. If you cant find a pump give me a shout on the sponsors thread in THE FISH NOOK

    i think a Spec Hydrostar will work much better Gav... :D the Badu resort 110 will give you 10 000l/h at a 22m head :D

    tyhx for the advice i was actually looking at a 5000l/h pump with a output of 2700l/h @ 2m ...... i guess thats a little bit of overkill
