My little guppy got fin rot about 2 days ago. I treated the tank with rooibos tea and he seemed fine yesterday and this morning he also ate some flakes. This afternoon when I came home he was lying on the bottom of the tank with his whole body bent. His head is almost touching his tail.

Hope someone can help me with this...

    3ft tank, 90L
    internal ViaAqua F130 Canister filter
    temp at 28C
    5-10% water change everyday
    Tetramin flakes twice a day

    Stock:
    2 x Opaline Gourami
    2 x Sailfin Molly
    3 x Balloon Molly
    1 x Featherfin Catfish
    10 x Guppy

Can I ask what the reason is for the daily water changes? Weekly changes are good, but daily water changes is unheard of to me...

I do 5% WC everyday, instead of 25% once a week. was told that doing regular, small WC is better than one big WC, once in a while.

Oh ok. I do a 20% water change every 2nd week, but am changing to a 10% water change every week. I wouldn't do a water change everyday. That's just me though

I could always change it to 20% every week. But I have the time to do 5% a day, as I work from home.

Any advice you can give me on the guppy?

I was gonna say that the daily waterchanges could be causing a slight ammonia spike and this could be causing the problem with the guppy. Not sure though. I could be wrong

It may be a disease called Rickets - on Guppies
    lack of vita D
or a diet problem - feeding them differant things -flakes, meaty stuff - brine shrimp, blood worm and vegi's
I am no expert but I did some extensive reading on some of the fishes that I keep and would care for and will continue my reserch
some fry will have these issues too, but that would also result in "shock" on the mother fish, most guys will say cull the fry
but to me, I would care for them till they die - and wont give them to other people.

    hope that helps

Old age can also cause these problems - and there is nothing you can do
you can say, it was fine before and now its like this - its part of the cycle of fishes
they can change quickly and would require attention - some will come right
and some wont, and in this case if its Rickets, it wont come right.

    sorry for your lost
