It could be one of a few things, or even a combination.

If I remember correctly you tank was set up quite recently, and is probably not cycled yet.
You also added a new filter and new filter media.
With fish in a tank that has not been cycled, any fish waste, excess food, etc. will break down and be converted to ammonia, nitrite and finally nitrate.
The ammonia, nitrite and nitrate build up is called the Nitrogen cycle, and needs to be completed to ensure the tank is safe for fish to live in.

Your tank needs beneficial bacteria to break down the ammonia, and then break down the nitrite. You do water changes to get rid of the excess nitrate.
It takes a couple of weeks for the beneficial bacteria to become established in the tank, especially if you have put a new filter and new filter media in.
A product like Seachem Stability, Scape Bac-Up or similar is required to seed the water in the tank with beneficial bacteria.
There are a few other products on the market as well, and your local pet shop should have something you can use.

Water needs to be treated with a dechlorinator as well, before being added to the tank.
Municipal tap water contains chlorine and chloramine, which are toxic to fish.
Seachem Prime or Safe, Scape Dechlorinator, Tetra Aquasafe and a host of other products are used to do that.
Seachem Prime will also remove the ammonia from the water in the tank.

The fish may have been carrying a parasite of some other form of disease when you got them from the pet shop.
You can treat the fish and the tank contents with a broad spectrum antibiotic, as well as something that will take care of most parasites.
Seachem Paraguard work well for parasites. There are many other products on the market that can be used.

I would suggest the following course of treatment.
    1. Start using a dechlorinator and treat the water in the tank. (Seachem Prime)
    2. Seed the tank with beneficial bacteria. (Seachem Stability)
    3. Treat the tank and fish against parasites. (Seachem Paraguard)

It may seem that I am advertising Seachem products, but I use them almost exclusively, and find that they work for me.
They are a bit pricey though, and you may want to go with something that suits your budget.

    Good luck.

New tank syndrome, toxic shock syndrome, parasites or many other problems in a tank are not always visible immediately.
Start treating the tank, and see whether it makes a difference.

See everything as a learning curve.
Hang in, get the tank sorted, and take it from there.

The pro aqua is a seeding agent, to introduce the beneficial bacteria to the tank.
    It should work.

Haha I was brave when I got a fancy tank for free. I got flurite substrate some plants and some pool filter sand. But I let my tank run for about 2 weeks before adding fish and I never had problems. I use this scape complete nutrients. It combines all their products.
