No I'm not buying, the picture is of my fishes which are breeding like flies! I've just transferred 3cm fishes to other tanks and want to sell.20180318_153347.jpg

@MariaS Thank you, yes I needed to make a plan to make space for my babies. Drilling glass and building weirs is not for sissies! LOL! I'm selling the young Brichardis now, what do you think is a fair price for them?

Yep, i know what you mean... at the end of the day, breeding is probably the easy part
Ensuring you have accommodation to raise the babies especially if you have several spawns is hard work

Unfortunately i have no idea what they usually go for as although i appreciate their beauty its not the kind of fish that i have a passion for so i hve never really paid much attention to their prices
If I was in your shoes, i would have a look around a few lfs's and see what they going for and then you can decide from there

Thanks Maria, I've so far advertised at Gumtree @R45, lots of views, but no calls as yet. Patience, patiens, LOL! I also have plenty Demasonis which I will transfer to the top tanks, but first waiting a bit for the new systems to mature. Interestingly I discovered that the Demasonis are threatened in the wild...

That's always the risk with breeding...
Good luck, hope you sell all the babies

You can typically get them for the same or cheaper than a guppy. So R20 - 28 in the LFS.

Because they have a tendency to dominate the tank - I think these should be aimed at species only tanks. Nice thing about them they are not anti-plant, but anything else it has a go at.

The issue with these fish is that they are not as desirable as the other tanganyikans (frontosas and tropheus)

They are also very easy to breed and therefore there is not a high demand for them

I see them going for around R80 each at some fish stores in Cape Town.

I have also seen them go for around R30 on gumtree.

I really like these fish and pictures don’t really do them justice.

Only in person can you see why they are referred to as fairy cichlids

I guess you can keep the price at R45 and they will sell but probably a lot slower than if you were to drop the price to around R30 because then not only people who know what they are would be interested.

ok thanks guys, I just sold 20 at the LFS wholesale at R20 each. Yes they are plant friendly and truly beautiful when they become adults. I'm moving over to Tropheus now, but still love the Brichardis
