What for the love of nature is this?

    As most of you know I have recently started my malawi tank... found this thing growing on a piece of driftwood in the tank... What is it?

    Looks like a bit of bacteria. Get a Bristle Nose pleco. He will either chow it, or he will scrape it off the wood... It's quite normal, don't worry too much. Try scrape it off with a pot scourer.

    Would it be advisable to put a bristlenose with malawis?

    My plecos and malawis were fine together.

    It's a benign fungus - saprophyte that feeds off dead wood cells - nothing to worry about - disappears on its own in 2 - 3 weeks...
