This a red phantom tetra, beautiful fishes and when you see them in the shop they look faded in comparison to these pics. Remember you should keep them at cooler temps, 22-23 C not more or else they are faded in colour and burn out quickly.

Rasboras are not characins they are related to the barbs, they are cyprinids.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

Try and get Cherry Barbs? Males are rich red but they tend to be nippy.*

I think the Serpae tetras have a black dorsal fin. Could be wrong though. I had some a few years ago.

Red Phantoms are a separate species from the Serpae. I'd advise red phantoms over serpaes as they can get very scrappy and nippy. Cherry barbs are a good suggestion to get some red into your tank, also look at rosy barbs, bloodfins and even neons. If your water conditions are correct for them, you can also try Rummynose tetras.

I wouldn't get Serpae Tetras. I have never kept them myself. But everyone I know who has had them says they nip the fins of their other fish. Even if you keep them in groups.

These Red Phantoms look interesting though.
