    Hey all,

I see a lot of people take some very nice photos of their Fish tanks / Fish. I know this is a bit off topic but what camera's do each of you guys use to take these photos. Also have you been on formal/informal training/course. I guess it sort of fits in with the new photo competition :)

Ill start out (not that i have submitted many photos).

    Camera's:
    Canon 400D , 18-55mm
    Canon 450D , 18-55mm IS

    Lens's
    Canon 55-250mm IS
Tamron 70-300 Tele-macro (1:2, just allows me to be closer to the object while still being able to focus on it)

I have been on a short course when i first got my 400D but have not done much after that besides reading and playing around with different features.

Anyhow keen to hear what everyone else has.

It's a nice lens for static shots, but without image stabilizing, it's pretty useless in the bush... Pity. I only paid R1400 for it. Brand new.

Does the sigma lens also have the "macro" function on it?

I remembered when i got my tamron 70-300 i was looking at that and the sigma lens. Not sure why i ended up with the tamron but i did do some research. I have also ended up with some nice photos off of it. Mainly used it for wildlife/sport and its handled everything okay so far.

I highly recommend the Nikon D90 Franna! Definitely worth every cent.

    I'm using a Nikon D90 and a Nikon 18-105mm VR lens.
I tried out my father's sigma macro lens a while back, but since I moved out I haven't had a chance to play with it again.

Mine is made of paper and you can only use it once before you have to break it open to get your photos. For a Macro lens I use a 15cm high extra thick beer glass. :D

I shoot with a Nikon D80 and various attachments and lenses.
Lenses include: standard 18-55mm kit lens... 55-200vr & 10.5 fisheye.
Attachments: SB600 flash, macro extension tubes.
I did a part time course through intec, but never finished it... kinda lost interest for a while.

I'm shooting with a Canon 5D mk. I (superb camera! Love it!!)!! Would love a Mk. II or a 1Ds Mk. III at some point in the future when I'm rich!! Never going to happen!!

Lens wise, I'm using a 28mm - 70mm L f/2.8 and a 70mm - 200mm L f/2.8 IS. The latter is excellent for low light photography like concerts (my favourite type of photography) and versatile enough for the likes of weddings!!

Unfortunately, I do not have a macro lens (haven't got the dosh!), so I use the 70-200 for my fish pics, but its not fast enough with the focusing to get a good lock on fish that don't keep still!!

I also have various attachments for my speedlite 420EX flash, as well as UV and polarising filters for my lenses.

I have done a course, but it wasn't very advanced, just helped fill in some of the blanks! I had a Canon 350D at that point too!!

    Regards
    G!

I use my old faithful Nokia N95 or 5140 cell camera
Does a fantastic job when fish do not move which is almost never.
    Else I shoot with a .22 or a 9mm :)
