    Again, I'm ressurecting this thread...

Who has what Apistos at this stage?

    I currently have:
    Nanacara Anomala
    Pandurini
    Dwarf Flag
    Cockatoo Cichlids

I am looking to increase my species list so if there are any people out there that have any other varients available PLEASE let me know...

I guess it's my turn to resurrect this thread!

Do you still have Apistos? It's been two years. You should have plenty fry to share.

Anyone else keeping Apistos and care to share pics with us?

I've been reading up on these littl fish for some time now and am keen to give them a try...just don't know where to actually find any. :/

Very few people have them and very few people know how to breed them. They've been scarce. The ones that are in pet stores are either low quality imports or severely inbred local stock. I've seen pictures of what people have and it's only made me regret selling my apisto pair. They were beautiful!

    Hi Tank Master,

I don't have the variety that I had before but I do still have Cockatoo Apistos, Nanacara Anomalas, but they seem to all be male & Dwarf Flags, but again they are also all male.

I was working during the last 2 years & landed up losing a lot of my breeding stock... I have some youngsters growing at the moment, but are still too young to sex and sell, but I will keep you updated on their progress...

If you want more females, just lower the incubation temperature to 26/27. You would have been breeding at around 30 degrees. That is far to warm to get female fry.

Due to the overwhelming feedback and requests we got...we decided to breed the Tri's for the coastal areas as well this year (only wanted to start doing that mid 2017). So you may see some down in ELS sooner than you think

Proof? Here's the male being introduced back into his female-harem

Could anyone suggest where in Cape Town I could find some apisto's, none of my locals stores seem to stock them?

    Bit late, but nice topic.

I found this guy (cacatuoides) by chance at my LHS in JHB, I will hopefully get some females December/January. Been looking for apisto's for a long time.
It's ridiculous how small he is, adult Rummy nose tetra's are the same size!

Nice Cockatoo...I have 2 pairs now in my tank...are you sure thats not a female? My females are much smaller than my males and their fins are a pail orange compared to my males fins which are a full rich red and orange now and are much more elongated and eye catching. :D
