Hey guys my cat fish grazed himself against something (he's a sun cat - either a rock or one of the other ornaments - he's got open sores with skin hanging lose - it's not bleeding but what action do i need to take to a) make sure he's not in pain, and b)prevent any infection. the 2 cats are always trying to squeeze themselves into the tiniest of holes and the 2 of them are anything but tiny.

tank makes, 3 silver dollars, pleco, rainbow shark and golden gourami.

I would recommend a hospital tank treated with melafix.
If the wound is not too bad just a very clean hospital tank with a cycled filter.

thanks all. i went to get some salt have added a bit, will add some more later. i read online that it's not a good idea to add it all at once. putting him in a seperate tank is going to be a bit difficult. i have 2 tanks but the smaller tank is filled with bite size snacks for him, and he's too big to just get a small tanks for him. He's close on 30cm atm.
keeping an eye on him, removed the new stuff i added, he's back in his old hole and he's calmed down so hopefully he'll heal.

Fish tend to heal rather well, but it takes a long time. Make sure he isn't bullied by the others and he should be fine. Lots of food (live if possible) will help a little more than pellets.
