    Hi All,

As promised, here are the pics of my tank. As mentioned in my previous threads, this tank was given to me at a huge bargain of only R1k, and my boss kindly paid for it.

To the right of the tank is my "rockery" section with some long leafed plants on the far right. Yes, the plants right in front of the rocks are all plastic. I am hoping to get some type of grassy plants for the front, and I'm contemplating getting moss for the rockery. Hiding in the rocks, and very seldom seen, are 20 Neons.

To the left of the tank is my wood (dunno what wood, but bought as is from LPS), and the rest of my plants. This is my "garden" section of the tank. Nice big leafed plants, (still young tho). Between the rockery and the garden, right at the back is a very furry type plany that will apparently grow quite big, and become quite distinguished.

At the top is my "hidout" floating plants. Have NO clue what the plant is tho. I originally bought it for my baby Guppies, but sadly the female died before giving birth. But now that I have Swordtails, when they give birth the fry can hide nicely in that. Solex suggested the airtubing tied in a circle and attached to the top via suction cup, which keeps the floating plants all neat and tidy together. Thanks Solex.

Other than that, not much else to report- oh... on the wood and on the top of the rockery I have tied a plant to them... they were innitially buried in the substrate, but Solex corrected my planting technique there.

    Nice setup dude :)

Floating plants = Tropical Hornwort (Ceratophyllum submersum) - quick grower

    Other plants:

    Limnophila Sessiliflora (quick grower)
Echinodorus Schlueteri (medium to slow grower)
    Anubias Barteri var.nana (slow grower)
    Vallisneria Americana (quick grower)
    Some fakers (no growers :))

Looking forward to seeing some more updates on this tank. Maybe I should send you some cuttings to add to this tank?

Thanks guys... The fish are all happy. A LOT happier than when they were in the 10gal! Although sadly I lost a few... due to a bacterial desease I believe. But everything seems to be settling down. Just with the Neons would come out of hiding though. They add such beauty to the tank... just not when they under the rocks permanently.

Solex, I'd love some clippings... but sadly CT is a little far from Jhb, and I think if you were ro post them up... our trusty postal service would manage to kill the plants before they arrive. :(

Thanks a mil for the compliment Fish Fantasy. I'm still eagerly awaiting your pics

Plants will be fine mate, they'll survive the trip. I've sent plants so many times to various locations in S.A without any problems. The plants are 100% free, you will only need to pay for the courier charges. PM me if you are interested with your address details

    Cheers

Thanks Speedz, Actually this was not my idea, it was Solex (king of plants) that gave me the idea.

Tank is doing very well. Been dosing with a multi-purpose 'heal all
product, and the fish are looking a lot healthier. Even the Neons are starting to come out of hiding. Introducted 7 small Angels this weekend, and they are LOVING the tank!

Hi Zoom! Your multipurpose heal all, where do you buy it and what colour is the liquid because we have this General medicine which i dislike because it turns the water green and it looks terrible (swamp replica) and removing it takes for ever.

Does anyone have a way of removing the medicine from the water besides water changes, something extra?

    Hi Fish Fantasy,

I bought it from from Northgate VIP petstore. It's called "Heal All". You need to dose your fish for about a week according to the instructions.

Remove medicine from water using Activated Charcoal in your filter.

Sorry... it is clear. It doesn't change the colour of the tank water at all.

That's fabulous thanks for the info, i'm running to the LFS this weekend to get some! Do you find it works well, is it better than the green swop liquid?

    Never tried green swop liquid.

It seems to be working well. Although I need to say that I only SUSPECTED my fish being infected with something as they were starting die off one by one. But (touch wood) I haven't lost a fish in over a week now. They all are swimming a lot more energetically, and the neons are starting to show their face from under the rock cave.

I'm so happy to hear that your fish are doing well  I was worrying :wondering: with you because on my side i had a balloon mollie just sink to the bottom and a day later i found her floating at the top dead as a door nail, i'm worried i might have the same problem as you so i'm going to try that medicine and see how it goes. Pls keep us informed on how your fish are doing later on with the medicine and thanks again for the info it's going to help alot.

Well, tonight will be the last time I add my 'heal all' medication to the tank. I'm suppose to be doing a 7 day course, according to the bottle. But as a beginner, I didn't read the instructions PROPERLY in the pet store. Thus I didn't calculate how much to add into my tank.

Instructions were 5ml p/40l. Thus I have to add 20ml per day. Therefore I SHOULD have bought 140ml (min.) Silly me bought a small 100ml.

So I'll leave the tank to run until Sunday, and then put the carbon back in to take out the medication.

Fish all seem very happy. My Angels are a complete delight in the tank... they follow me wherever I go. And the Swordtails are just stunning fish on their own.
Neons are still in hiding... not too sure what to do now with them. A lot of people say they have the same problem, and other people say they don't have any problem. So I'll just wait and see.
