I was trying to count the amount of shrimp I have in a 3 ft tank, when I noticed something that I at first thought was wild coloured shrimp.
Upon closer inspection I noticed that there are fish swimming around in the tank.

They appear to be about the size of week old Guppy fry, but are more transparent.
The stomach and intestines appear to be visible, with the tail portion almost translucent.
There are a couple of them in the tank, but it is difficult to get an accurate count.

The only fish that have ever been in the tank are the permanent Otocinclus that help with cleaning the tank, and 4 Galaxy Rasbora that shared the tank until I noticed that the shrimp appeared to not be producing any babies, and transferred the CPDs to their own tank.

The only thing that these fry could possibly be are either Otocinclus or Galaxy Rasbora fry.
As they are free swimming, and not munching algae off the glass, I suspect the latter.

Trying to google images of CPD fry is next to impossible, as there are lots of pictures of the adults, but only new born fry, that resemble glass catfish....

    Anyone have a clue?

I would guess cpd's , they app pretty easy to breed and I had a similar experience with white clouds, took the adults out of a tank and put them outdoors for summer, a few days later I had fry swimming around.

I have been keeping fish for longer than I can remember, and apart from live-bearers I have never had any success with breeding them.
Now suddenly I have a tank full of GBR fry, as well as CPD fry that I didn't know I had.
Hopefully this is the start of many...

Lol but that's a good thing , taking the hobby to the next level , I have suddenly got krib fry and platinum angel fry , now if only the cories would breed , but I think they still a bit young , only expecting them to even think of spawning next summer.

I did the best with white clouds though , put 10 adults outside in 1600 litres , don't know what the sex ratio was , at one point I had roughly 600 fish of different sizes. That's a lot of white clouds , still don't know what to do with them all before the cold hits us

    Feeders lol!

I happen to have a new bichir

Those are some pretty fish, good luck selling them or whatever.

@Pezulu CPDs do breed easily in captivity I think. Maybe you will get some adults from the bunch :)

True, if any one wants to know, What worked for me when i thought id make money breeding zebras, = tank set up, put some gravel , (12 or 18 mm) ,an air filter, used a 1 ft tank, the fry dont like to much light so i painted the sides and back, put the adults you have (i had 6) once tank has stabilized, ( this is hilarious) go to kitchen , find rooibos teabag and put in tank, monitor fish, when they dashing around the base of the tank +- a week. let them dash for a day or 3, then take all the adults out!, few days later you will see some spots or dots on the glass,
and yea, then u start making food for the babies. (worked for me , could have just been placement or luck, but ya, one air filter , and 6 zebras, i ended up with a few hundred)

sorry edit, it would probably work for most danios.

You don't need the tea. Danios spawn like maniacs. I probably have so much floating moss in my one tank all the danios would instantly quiver with eggs :p
