Weird things on my plants and box filter.

Hi,

So I had a problem with my 15L tank with guppies (I’m getting a bigger tank shortly) and I lost 4 of the 6. I got Bio-Vital and I just saw some things on my box filter and on my plastic plants.
I assume it’s mucus caused by the 2 remaining guppies because of the nitrite spike I had or it could be because of the bio vital mixed in the tank.
If anyone can shed some light on what these are I would appreciate it.

PS: I am aware the tank does look like it has some algae in it but it doesn’t look like that in person.

Definitely bio-vital. A tip I have seen on another forum is to simply mix the probiotic in a tall jug, let the solids settle into the bottom and then pour the water in. This leaves the solids out of the tank

 

So it’s atleast nothing to worry about then?

I’m new to the hobby so a bit confused

Your tank is cycling. Keep doing regular water changes and adding Prime and Stability. The first few weeks of a tank can make or break it. This is likely just a result of a bacteria explosion. It should clear up if the cycle goes well.
