It's hardly on... we only have it for gaming and for sport. Gareth would never agree to getting rid of the tv though.

You're absolutely right. When I find I'm bored, I'll work on the tanks, bake something, take photos or work in the garden. Mostly we go out on little road trips around Cape Town which is the best for me.

Telkom ADSL down since 11h45 today. Telkom recon it is just me. Are they honest? ;-)

My line is completely dead. Not the usual where your line is OK but you are not assigned an IP. So this could take days!

Currently on a landline dial up at 26.4 Kbps. Driving me mad. I can not work like this an will switch off rather. Will dial in again tomorrow to see whats hapening.

Not the same problem but a problem with same company...

We had our land line number change mid last year....to this day we cannot make a call only receive.
Had technicians in, phone help, the whole lot. Their response "There seems to be a problem but we don't know what it is or how to fix it....sorry"

    What to do?

Who of you have burnt while cooking? Have you ever burnt yourself on smoking hot jam straight out of the oven? Trust me, you don't want to either.
I burnt on hot jam last night... as it was running down my finger it felt like it was never going to come off. I passed out, so now we're thinking I might be diabetic because I seem to pass out whenever I experience some sort of shock.

Anyhoo, a word of warning, stay away from hot jam. It's the worst burn I've ever had :(

Best get that checked out Lindy. If caught early enough you can control it to the point where it no longer effects you.
Let's rather hope that it's only low blood sugar or low blood pressure that causes you to pass out.

Hi Zoom, yeah I'll go to the doc on Thursday. Tomorrow I'm applying for my learners, Wednesday is voting day and doc will be closed.
We've tested for low blood sugar and low blood pressure before and the doc says it's perfect. I would rather it were one of those though, but diabetes runs in the family :(

Ah the joys of a sugar burn.... hope you are ok.

The worst thing i have ever seen in a kitchen was back when i studied hotel management. One of the Zim exchange students put her hand in a deep fryer to catch something that fell out of the basket. human hand, 180 deg veg oil.... man oh man....

Geez I'm getting shivers just thinking about that. OUCH!

I'm ok now, thanks Henk. Kept my hand in an iced cloth till I fell asleep. It felt like the jam was still on my finger.

Got an appointment with the doctors office for Thursday :)

Ok - always best to keep Burn Shield in the house if you make jams/syrups on a regular bases.

Eventually, down Thursday, back up on Monday! I do not have words! Understand I can claim back for the days without service. Anyone done that before? Is it worth it?

    @Linxie
Never heard before that diabetics cause you to pass out in this way. I know you can pass out if your blood sugar goes too low, which is life threatening(you can go into diabetic coma and never return), but from a sudden shock is unlikely. Maybe your sugar level is low already and then the shock sends it way down to critical. But you normally would get the 'shakes' as a warning, which we diabetics call 'hypo'. That is your warning to get your sugar level up as quickly as possible.

Do you sometimes start to shiver uncontrollably and inexplicable? Do you wee a lot? Are you chronically tired? Abnormal thirsty? Losing weight? Eyesight problems? The shiver part is from low blood sugar. The rest is from too high blood sugar. The high blood sugar is the one that goes unnoticed, cause irreversible long term damage and is called the silent killer.

Some people suffer from low blood sugar which is not to be confused with diabetics. I suppose it is just as dangerous though, if not worse, when severe.

Under the new consumer act, you can. However if telkom are not prepared to settle with you (phone them and ask them what rebate they prepared to give), you would need to get a lawyer involved.
