    Looking to get some flow going in a dead spot of my tank, so either a powerhead or a wavemaker. What would be the better choice?

    Depends, wavemakers moves more water around where as power heads creates more of a straight line current

    @CharlZA ,

    For me, to get rid of dead spots... wavemaker on opposite side of filter intake
    Wavemaker does exactly what its called, creates like a wave type of movement which lifts debris off the floor from everywhere and pushes to the filter
    I have long ditched powerheads

    Thanks, what size would you recommend for a 4 foot? I see the smallest you can go is a SOBO WP-50M Wavemaker which is a 100 liters per hour.

    Some powerheads have the advantage of adding a sponge filter in a pinch, but if one has plenty equipment/ tanks then less a concern.

    I used a 1300 lph powerhead in my 4 ft. Took it out after changing my return pump. Made a lot of current on top though.

    @CharlZA

    We using Jebo wavemakers, also with the magnet
    On one of the 600l pup tanks we using 5000l per hour
    So i would say about 2500/3000l per hour
    Whether it blows your sand away or not will depend on where and the angle at which you place the wavemaker
    Some times takes 2 or 3 days of fiddling around until you get it the way you want it

    Well, I got the SunSun that does 4000 liters per hour and it seems to be doing the job pretty well.

    A wave maker will make an mess of the sand. Rather go powerhead add an diy spaybar or nozzle for focused flow. You can add an loc line flow accelerator.
