Hi guys this is just a warning to ppl in PE that dont use dechlorinaters. I read in the Algoa Sun that PE's water has very high readings of chlorine atm, around 550ppm , i think over 600ppm is dangerous to humans and would think 550ppm wouldnt be good for our fish friends.
    Cheers

How on earth is this possible? I phoned them and they said they aim for 0.8mg/l of chlorine so how can they reach those levels? Something must have gone wrong. Did the article mention any particular areas? Because there are a number of water plants around the city.

The only place they mention is sherwood because this is were the complaints originated from. The municipality said " the water my smell bad and not be aesthetically pleaseing but is safe for HUMAN consumption" .this is from a Prof at NMMMU "we are in a danger zone when it comes to chlorine in our tap water" > Basiclyfrom what i can get in the artical is that the water smells bad tastes bad but it wont kill you......... So break out our dechlorinators because i wouldnt take a chance. I am sure it was a mess up on there behalf they were probly told to put 1 spade full of chlorine in and in true south african style thought well if we put 5 spade fulls in we wont have to come back for 5 weeks( i dont know the quantitys just using the spade as an example)

I can't smell chlorine in my tap water. And as you know, I am just next to Sherwood. Shouldn't such high values smell like a swimming pool?
