Water Test Kits

I swear I made this thread before, and was looking all over the bloody place and can't find it.

Anyway, can anyone recommend an all-in-one test kit that covers all the bases, and is hopefully fairly inexpensive.


What should I expect to pay?

Where can I get it?

 

i would invest in a master test kit - ALWAYS check the exp date on liquid test kits as well as the test strips

 

How much though, aren't those hellishly expensive?

Any one in particular?

 

they are indeed pricey - the nutrifin one is really good

 

I'll have a look at Panorama on the weekend, otherwise good old test strips will have to do.

 

I am with you on the test strips. uncomplicated, but also pricey. Tetra and sera make a good one

 

test strips also have a very short shelf life - we were looking at importing them but i wasnt willing to risk import stuff that goes off so quickly

Yep, but the important point that Henk makes is that they should be used rapidly after buying them and they do not last. You need fresh ones regularly or else you cannot rely on them.

You can also cut them into quarters, but then you may need new glasses that may cost R2000 in order to see the strips, its all a matter of what your priority is or FOCUS as it is called on SABC!

This is true prof... LOL!!

 

I think test strips are especially effective for those with MTS.

It not only makes it rather easy, but also solves the problem of expiry.


Also isn't the expiry predominantly related to moisture issues?

 

i'm sure it plays a role but the big problem is the active part of it actually goes off

From Northern Aquatics for R470 odd. I figured since the test strips were R200, I might as well give the liquid tests a try, figuring they should last a bit longer.

Will see how it goes.

It doesn't test NO3 sadly though.
