I have used several different general pond plants. Just plant them in a pot and hang on the side or stand on bricks. Works very well and pond water stays clear and healthy once stabilised. Buy Most pond plants from your local nursery. Add normal floating plants aswell.
    Good luck.

I have bred plattie, Guppies and minows in the tubs. Can easly have 50 fish of different ages once the pond gets established.

Ps. I didnt even do water changes. The plants for a great ecosystem. Just top up the water levels when it drops.

@Guppy24 i think a 30L tub is too small. The rest like @Anthony Schemel said.

    Cool!
Yes I’ve used aquarium stem plant trimmings successfully in the pond, some growing emersed and some submerged.

With a no-filter pond you’ll have to keep stocking levels very low and planting levels high, especially fast growing plants. The hornwort is particularly good.

You can also chuck in some watercress from a supermarket packet and it will form roots quickly (let it float). Mint will grow emersed.

My half barrel un-filtered pond works well.
I think the key is not to overstock.
