Water Lillies suitability?

    Are water lillies suitable for a fishtank? specifically a 3ft tank

    till they block all the light and the rest of your plants die

    i hope that does'nt happen, i've got java fern growing wild in my tank

    i grow 7 cultivars of Nymphea in my pond.... trust me it will block light in your tank if you allow the leavesto get to big

    Im told these are pink waterlillies, anyone got experience with this plant?
    @henk are these the same ones you have?

    also do you want hardy or tropical? day or night blooming?

    i must say thats an awesome looking pond! The lillies look proportionate to size of the pond, so i doubt they will make it in my 3ft

    I have 5 different types of "lilly" in my 4ft with no problem...

    Isnt that a foregone assumption with all plants in a planted tank:p

    yes but you never allow the leaves to become mature so they dont block the light....

    you do get a few nymphea that have a small leaf as well though, that doesn't get big and spread out much, we sell some at the nursery, i just have no idea specifically which species, the leaves have a reddish tint though

    Thats interesting - i am yet to come accross any of those - i have 8 spp/cultivars and all of them make pretty big leaves.....
