water changes

    is a 5 to 10% daily water change overkill?

    not overkill no. But it could be unnescessary, depending on your stock density.

    i have 3 oscars,a pleco and an arowana in a 340l

    I think if you can keep up with the water preparation 5% a day will stimulate growth. I'd still do a 25% change along with a gravel rinse once a week. Just then skip the 5% the next day.

    Ja i do a big change up to 50% sometimes on a weekly basis,i'm just trying something new

    Whenever i have young fish or fry i want to grow out quickly, I do 10% a day with 25% once a week. I do that though mainly because I'll be feeding up to 8 times a day. This is in bare bottom tanks though which makes keeping it clean easier.

    my oscars are growing fine,i would like to speed up the aro though so i hope this helps.also just to get rid of the excess mess these fish can k@k lol

    lol Yeh big fish = big poop! I'm sure if you feed them often it will turn into a hell of a mess!

    ja i have cut it down to once a day for the oscars and i duck and feed the aro twice a day

    It'll just turn into another debate, I know, but I tend to think fish should be fed a great many small meals. We should actually get Prof's opinion. I'm sure it might differ from species to species, but I never feed less than 5 x a day. It is more difficult in planted aqua's though.

    they probably gonna say we off topic now but anyway,in a perfect world ja that would be best maybe but if i dont go to work they wont eat at all.
