    Hey everyone

    Just curious to see how often people do water changes, and how much they take out. I see that most LPS's recommend once a month with 25% taken out, while a lot of books that I've read say that 25% should be taken out every two weeks.

    I suppose it all depends on what you're stocking and how much time you have, so if you want to, post reasons why you do or do not do regular/large water changes.

    Here's what everything on the poll means:

    Decent = between 5% and 25% water change
    Large = 25% to 50% water change
    Massive = more than 50% water change

    Frequent = water changed once a week or more than once a week
    Regular = roughly every 2 weeks
    Monthly = about once a month

    75l also 40%, was only been running for a week i think and already have done a water change.

    I do a 100% water change plus cleaning of hole tank about once every month and a half or 2.

    If I have to do a 50% water-change, I will flood my garden.
    Either I have too much tanks, or the garden is very small... the garden-service don't think so.

    Yeah, the largest water change you would ever need to do is 75%, and I mean that is the maximum, when things are really going wrong in the tank.

    Normally it's best to do anything between 25% and 50% change IMO.

    Doing a 100% change is dangerous for the fish, as this can likely kill off the beneficial bacterial colonies and put quite a bit of stress on the fish as well.
