    Hi Dylan,

I fully respect that this may be an attractive option for you, but I would like to caution you against this in the strongest terms. Washing machine pumps have lots of unprotected metal, aluminium, zinc and copper, which erode into the water and even at low levels, cause huge toxicity problems, so under no circumstances can this be recommended, I am sorry.

Even the cheapest Chinese pumps take this into consideration, so you should rather buy aquarium pumps as they have plastic or stainless steel moving parts which will not corrode.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

If you take it apart and clean it, it should not be a problem the only thing is they don't last long when you run it permanent
like a sump is supose to run they overheat. I tryed it on one of my machines only lasted 8 hours

Rather take a front loader apart and use the drum as a braai,, stainless steel and gives off plenty of heat.
