Hi, will a 2ft tank work as a sump on my 4ft tank? After i added some perspex chambers to the 2ft. Do anyone know of a good site i can get some plans on how to make the compartments and the weir to get water from tank and sucked down to the sump.

    Hi,

Yes, a 2ft will work fine if you design it efficiently. Don't make any hasty moves, and never attempt to build a sump without planning it carefully. A well planned sump can do wonders! You can go have a look at http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/showthread.php?6105-Filtration-rates-flow-and-other-questions to get a rough idea of what a sump is really expected to do. Once you've read this, you should have a pretty decent starting point for planning your sump.

Good luck, and never be afraid to ask!
