I'm looking more for a water column base fertilizer for now. But will keep this in mind for later.

For water column I would stay clear of anything that is not explicitly water soluble from dry form (and even then it needs to fully dissolve when you mix it for dosing). The math on other peoples liquid fertz is not for me and they seldom disclose the solution correctly.
Actually I would probably consider hydroponic salts - but be very careful with Cu / Boron / Sulfide content and find a comparable salts mix on http://rotalabutterfly.com/ esp on the NPK ranges ...

I have tried "organic" fertz and that in the long run is always a disaster for water column, if you use it sparingly for root tabs in a 3cm ++ substrate, organic is a bit more forgiving in a very well planted tank. Again not keen on liquids. Organic = no real clue what the actual analysis is. It is loaded with compounds that are not on the label so it a real no no.

Remember you are trying to add just enough to not have a shortage, that would imply that it is safe for the animals in the tank.

I love what you have done with the tank.

Dark spots are not necessarily a bad thing.
Some plants, like Anubias, Bolbitis, Java Fern and other low tech plants enjoy partly shady or shady areas.

My plants are doing great - my fish, not so much... I have a couple of deaths in the last couple of weeks...
For some reason, my Corries (5 of them) and Ancistrus (all 4) died - the rest of the fish looks fine.
I haven't tested my water recently - will need to get new test kits.

Some random photos that I took last night.

    @Wandrag, the tank looks stunning

    Sorry for the loses..

Firstly just to make sure.. there are no plants in pots anymore, right?
If the corries or bristlenose nibbled on the wool in the pots, it kills them

If the above is not the case, then I would start thinking of testing my water
If you cant get test kits now, Aquarium Centre in Kenilworth (which is probably the closest I can think of to Alberton) will test your water for like R25
    Most LFS's do it

Hi - thanks for the compliment!

Now that you mention the wool - all of the plants are planted in gravel - BUT I think that there MIGHT have been a piece of wool that fell into the tank a while ago.
The problem is to find that piece now... :-( I will have to take everything (or almost everything) out to get that piece.
Well - my plan was to re-scape once I have a fully planted tank - so I can just as well do it now.

What do you think about those "stick on the window" testing kits, that measure some parameters constantly?

My son had those "stick on the window" test kits for a long time and worked quite well
When he upgraded tank he didn't replace them and I must be honest, I have never used them
Some people say they work like a charm
Maybe other members that might be using them will comment
