Vrot Bloodworms?

I purchased some freeze dried bloodworms today, in a sealed tub, all very professional looking, from Panorama Pets. I opened it, and there is a very strong smell coming from the tub. I offered my Bettas some, and they weren't interested. My angels and plattys went for them, but with not much enthusiasim. It doesn't smell like they are rotting, but I don't want to be feeding my fish "bad" food. Is a strong smell usual from freeze dried bloodworms?

we suspect one of the "local" brands to carry pathogens... details are not confirmed as yet but I would advise that you use bloodworms with caution...

 

Bloodworms do carry a hectic potency in the smell department, so if you have never bought it before to compare with then it's probably quite normal.
