    Hi guys

I have no idea where this post should go, so forgive me if it is in the wrong place.

I saw a cory I have not seen before today at Elite in Bellville. Wessel that works there called them 'Violet eye corys' of corydoras similus.

Just thought I'll mention it in case someone is interested.

    Morné

Corydoras similis aka: Violet eye Cory or Smudge Spot Cory - Corydoras similis. (note the spelling.)
This is a very rare cory and not very often one will be able to find them in a LFS or at a local breeder.
They are smaller than your average cory, and also need smaller food, but the rest of the parameters are the same as for other cories.
They are very sociable to their own kind, and one should not have less than 4 together. I keep a breeding group of 12/14 together and they school together as in one group.
They do sometimes breed, and I will in future, make them available to members, rather than the lfs...

Yes. They do ok-ish on their own, but they really thrive and are very entertaining in schools.

Yes, ideally they should be kept in a minimum of 6. They really do prefer company of their own kind, but can be mixed with other Corys too.

    Cheers
