    Hi all

New to the forum , so Hello! :)

I really need some help urgently here. I have a Via -Aqua 230 for my tank but the 'taps' which the tubing connects to are dripping. So I guess the o-ring or whatever is in that thing which acts as a sealer is damaged.

Does anybody know who will stock spares ? If not in South Africa , I dont mind paying and ordering from overseas.

A website called , commodityaxis has spares but they dont ship outside of the US.
    Please help me somebody...

Dont know where you gonna get hose, i seem to have a similar problem, but i am playing with the pressure, seems to be working, just need to get the right setting, also have been contemplating some cable ties, seems to be the best option for me, otherwise try a rubber mouldin place

    Hey Mickey,
Go to the hardware shop and see what size washers and o-rings they have. You might be lucky and find the size you're looking for.

Wish I could be of more help, but that's as far as my knowledge extends right now.

Thanks guys , I just cant believe I cant get spares. Its a joke!

I have a 150l tank at the moment, and need something very quiet. If I cant sort this out can you recommend some brands and outlets? preferably online if possible cause of my location.

in case you haven't read your intro thread, we have suggested that you try plumbing tape as a solution to your problem...i believe as riyadh stated the correct name for it is "thread tape"...try this and let us know...alternatively you could also try silicon as a sealant...

Oi Jesse.. I'm a BUILDER, not a PLUMBER... heehee

Thread tape will more than likely be your best bet.

Is this a brand new cannister filter ? and where exactly on the "taps" is the drip coming from ?

Its about 9 months old... was used for 6 months. Where the tap screws onto the exposed thread area from the pipes coming out of the filter :) if that makes any sense , So i think this thread tape thing is worth a try cause I am pretty desperate...

Some shop here sold it to me and they went bang. There isnt even a pet shop in this place!

Put some thread tape on the thread and a few cable ties on the pipe that screws onto it. Just to be save that you don't crack the pipe.

The only problem is that these fittings use the O-rings the to seal and not the thread.

You can go to any shops that sells seals and bearings. If its just an o-ring. These shops should keep them in metric or imperial sizes or just simply take them the sample.

George has a point there... if it's a clip on (like clipping a garden hose onto a tap) then tread tape won't work.

Maybe also just put the fitting in some hot water and make sure it is clean, also make sure when you attach it that goes on "straight".

    Great news guys!!

Commodity Axis e-mailed me back 24 hrs later. They will ship here if needs be , so that means they will ship to SA. They carry tons of via-aqua spares and then some :)

Not sure what the charges will set me back , going to use fedex like 5-7 days or something like that. But it will be small and weigh peanuts so cant see it being more then like R250 which for my situation is fine!

    Will keep you all updated
