    Hi guys.

Been a member for a very long time but not active at all. Im actually a marine guy but have this little 1ft setup with some red cherries. The tank was originally for a betta I inherited from friends that emigrated but the betta has moved on since then.

Setup is a basic 1ft with hang on filter. Some anubius nana and java fern and then the bunch of red cherries. Tank get neglected a lot and has the algae on the sandbed which almost looks like a lawn.

I will be honest up front and that is that i actually want to advertise my very nice 2m x 1.1x 0.67 1500L tank on here as well but need to get my post count up. As i mentioned in my first post, been a member for a few years reading but was purely into marines. I had malawis before my marine journey and now this little planted tank.

If this is not acceptable by the mods please let me know.

After seeing the stingrays that MariaS has i was tempted to covert the marine setup into one for freshwater rays. I think it would actually make a decent setup for them as i have a 3m sump system in my garage.

But in the end I think it is time to let go of the massive system and only keep this little planted setup. Wont let go of this one since it is so little work and it just keeps itself going. And its so nice to have shrimp that are hardy and can handle the lack of attention.

That is a stunning little tank.

I am thinking of converting a small 1ft back to a planted tank, with just Pogostemon Helferi (again) with a single small piece of driftwood with some Anubias Petite or Bonsai.

I would love to do a proper high tech planted setup one day but from my past experience it becomes quite a bit of work as the plants grow so rapidly with co2 that it requires regular pruning.

And i am at a stage now where i need as low maintenance as possible.

Chuck in 2 Nerite snails, and within a week you will be looking for more algae for them to munch on.
I have never seen anything eat algae as fast as Nerites.
