    Hey everybody,

Is Vallisneria suitable for a low light and low tech tank?

    My tank is no CO2, is 30 gallon (115L) and has 2 x 20W T8 lights.

If yes where can I get some from, cant seem to find it on betterweather.

I think it will, it will benefit from some nutrients though

@Thomas Tim, what do you mean some nutrients?

I have bio-elite aquarium plant grow, want to get scape complete but Dory Pets was out of stock, and scape liquid carbon that I currently dose once a week for my java fern and anubius that is in the tank now.

I think vallis is a root feeder, so I would assume I need some root tabs.

    Hi @ArchMule78

I keep mine in a few setups. One gets little light, and no additional nutrients besides what the fish poop. Another is well lit all day, and gets water column liquid dosing. The final one is very, very well lit, but no additional ferts besides fish poop.

The Vallis does well and propagates in all three setups. It's one of the few plants that won't let you down, given that:
    - you don't allow algae to take over the surfaces,
    - it's not among herbivores
    - you don't bury the plant too deep (i.e.: leave a little root sticking out above the substrate, nothing excessive)

Follow these rules, and you'll have more vallis than you know what to do with.

    Regards,

In my experience with jungle vals, they are very hardy and only need minimal nutrients to thrive
