I have an ice cream tub of Giant Vallis stems that someone can have if they pickup in Greenfields, East London. The leaves have died from algae, but if you cut off the leaves and replant the stems they should do fine. The heading should say Vallis :)

I think @Firefly can help us with packaging advice... thou hast been summoned.

I'm gonna see if I can find some here in PE, otherwise I might just take yours.

Any idea about how many you have in the tub there, like maybe 10 or 20?

@azurekoi, can you please grace us with some packaging advise and as to whether these plants can be safely sent by standard postage?

If possible by standard postage, I will definitely take them without shopping around!

Ziplok with a tiny amount of water. The water is is to keep the conditions wet. Then double ziplok, or even tripple. Put in bubble wrap padded envelop. Send counter to counter overnight. About 70 rands.
You can also postnet to postnet for a little more.

When you receive plants, cut them down to about 4-5 cm long. Plant. The lack of foliage will mean the plant spends less energy on keeping unhealthy leaves alive, and more energy on establishing itself. Remember this plant doesnt like excel

Standard postage takes too long. Plants will be in the dark for too long and could die.

I count about 45 stems. I think I know why they started looking like they do, I blamed algae but recently I started dosing Excel *slap myself*. I just changed the water so no more Excel. Will they survive?

    They shoud be fine.

You went out of your way to count them to the tee, thanks for that.

Since there's so many of them and they are rosette plants, I'm going to take the risk and ask you to post them to me using SAPO Fastmail.

    Should be about R20 in a Large B4 envelope. http://www.postoffice.co.za/Documents/B04262 SAPO.PDF (page 1)

I'll PM you my postal address now.

Easiest would be for me to send airtime directly to your phone to cover your costs, if it's okay with you.

I've read in a few places that Vallis does generally melt when you start Excel, but can grow back stronger once it has adapted.

To decrease the melting, the okes gradually introduce the Excel by dosing 1/4 over some time, then 1/2 and eventually full dosage.

Hi there. Sorry it took me a while but I've been busy.

I can spare some big vallis plants too.
This would probably be the cause.

I think I have a "Jiffy Lite" bag.
@MItchell are these runners from my vallis?
Inbox me if either of you need help.

    @Immy
I can supply too, so don't worry, there are always other sources. If @MItchell posts, I will drop some off the day before or something like that.
