    Hi.

Does anybody know were I can get a decent uv sterilizer for a small tank?

I have seen around but is mostly for ponds?
I'm looking for a compact type.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi IC.

I'm in jhb. I'm using a hob filter. Have a 65l tank at the moment. Planing on using it on a 200l + tank.

Why would you want a UV on a small tank?

    +1

Just do a big water change. If you want to get UV for disease, don't bother.

im new to the aquarium hobby. Just wanted to use it for better water quality. But on a bigger tank, not the small tank." Prevention is better than cure"
Don't know much about uv sterilizer, everything I know about it is info I got from the web.

If it is not worthit I won't bother getting one.

I once was in the market for one I could not get the water as clear as I would have liked but found another solution though. Invested in a canister that went above recommended liters/hr ratio. Got a 1.2m tank, powerhead inside and a 1200L/hr canister. After a 50% water change and a few days water was crystal clear and has been so ever since 2 months now and going strong:bigsmile:

Maybe I must try that when I get the bigger tank. I think uv sterilizers are hard to come by.

Will run that with my hob filters. On my 60l tank I have a too big hob power filter and and a normal sponge filter and the water is very clear in that tank. I actualy bought the hob filter bigger thinking I can use it on a bigger tank when I get one.

I think I'm going to leave it right where it is.

Uv is not worth it on a fresh water tank.
