UV light...

Ola all

After extreme bordom I was wondering around the house......after a while I started looking at an outdoor motor then found a uv light inside...... The real question is..... Can I put it in my tank?
Will it kill or harm my fish and plants or will it help them?

is this the same pond uv lights to stop green water?
If it is the same, then you can but not much use unless you have green water.

 

Also if you have it uncovered it will cuase "arc eye" - welders will know about this - which can lead to blindness

 

When using a UV light in your tank, use one that was made for use in the aquarium. All the UV lights that I have seen go inside their own casing or inside a large external filter, and this is done for the reason Henk explained.

Rather leave the light out of your system.

 

Just want to make sure that it is indeed a UV light and not a black light which people seem to get muddled up. Exposure to a proper UV light will definitely cause damage to you and your fish.
