Urgent advice please...hydrometer broke inside my tank?

    Hey guys...
My hydrometer broke in my tank, and the little black beads got carried around. I scooped out the glass and whatever of those black beads I could see. Are my fish in danger, as I do not have another tank to move them to?

Was this in your marine tank? If I am correct, there should be mercury and alcohol in it which, are both bad for fish. Other than that I don't know. Soz

I used it as a thermometer in my tropical tank. 400L, 5ft tank?

Hi Rowan. The small amount of alchohol wont do anything so no need for worry there. The small beads are lead beads added to the meter for buoyancy. It can causd lead poisoning but if you got most of it out, they are so tiny and will have little effect.

I must be missing something here. How can a piece of equipment used to measure Specific Gravity only, be used to measure temperature?

I took it as being the floating thermometer type which also then has the thermometer at the bottom end of the floater. Right Rowan?
