My power(Eishkom) went off at 2:50 this afternoon....flicked the DB board,no go,so unplugged my tanks from wall sockets and hooked them up to the UPS.... Dusk came and still no power,so went out to restaurant for supper followed by dessert at another(I'm picky....lol)... Got home 15mins ago(just after 9) and tanks still going....power came on just now and I still got both tanks with no problems with dead filters....

So,wondering what to get yourself as that " From me,to me " Xmas prezzie? Get a UPS !!!

I've been looking into getting a UPS system myself. But as for my knowledge of electrical things I know as much as switching it on and keeping fingers out of the plug.

I did enquire at a few places and because of my lack of knowledge they completely try to rip me off, asking up to R10 000 for a UPS for a standard 100l tank.

So maybe this is a conversation we should have...

What spec's should we be looking for in a UPS? Since its only to run a heater and filter for about 12 to 24 hours max I don't see why a huge thing should be neccesary.

Is it possible to customise an old computer UPS for this function?

    Good morning

Would a 1200VA UPS be good enough to run a 3000lt ph pump, 900lt ph external filter and a internal powerhead for about 6 - 8 hours ?
