Here are some pics of Kattz and my 100L and 250L aquariums. They have both only been operational for a few weeks now, since we had to move whole fish populations, plants and decor from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and move our fish, as well as ourselves, in together. I will post further pics when both tanks are actually nice to look at :)

    250L:
Thankfully no fish losses with this move, and moving Kattz's pleco and Striped Talking Catfish in with the others was largely without issues.

    1x Arowana
    1x Tiger Shovelnose Catfish
    1x L001 Pleco
    1x Striped Talking Catfish
3x Synodontis (2 Eupterus and one which looks similar but not quite like a Eupterus)

    100L:
A very mature and long-standing tank had to be ruthlessly dismantled for the move, most of the fish in this setup have been around for a long time in respect to their expected lifespans, thus the shoals are strange sizes.

1x Three-spot Gourami (has had three different owners)
    1x Synodontis Nigriventris
2x Kribensis (A mother and son, lets hope they don't pair up)
    2x Rio Tetra
2x Cardinals (lost one during transport, hoping to build up a larger shoal)
    3x Lemon Tetras
5x Emperor Tetras (and one baby out of six found survived and is shoaling with them)
1x Scissortail (Incredibly old fish, close on 10 years, hoping to get more)
3x Cherry Barb (one lost during transport)
4x Black Neons (one of them is F2 generation)

The tiny Anubias in the front of this tank is actually a laatlammetjie, I had an Anubias plant that grew almost the full length of my tank but died down unexpectedly. After two years, this tiny Anubias appeared in a different tank that utilised the same gravel as what the original Anubias was found in.

We also own a 60L that currently houses a young Polypterus endlicheri (Bichir) to grow him up to move in with the catfish and Arowana.

Franna: That fish is the Polypterus endlicheri (Bichir) in our 60L.

bmwkp: Thanks, the setup isn't finished, check Kattz's album for more individual fish pics. We're hoping to upgrade to a 500L or more when we move out of this flat.

As I said, more pics in a little while when the tanks look properly presentable.

And you all beat me to it.

I'm really obsessed with this fish.
He makes a great pet! He's just a youngster, so he is active and always up along the glass. The tank is next to my pc so I get to watch him while I work. Plus feeding him little fish, lance fish and bloodworms just makes my day better :)

 Heheh, thanks, that made my day!

The shovelnose is great, if you put your fingers to the glass next to him he puts his barbels out to try feel them. Actually right now he's "hunting" some Lancefish we just put in the tank for them. Watching that huge mouth at work is something to see!

A close second to my Bichir, in my opinion :p

Just teasing. They both have such interesting behavioural patterns, you just can't compare. ^^

That's a great fish! Mine isn't active... but still gets most of the attention from visitors

Have you got him to eat any dry foods yet?

Thanks =D My guy seems to confuse visitors, especially when he still had his external gills!
How old is your guy? As far as I have read, they get less active with age.

He used to take sinking pellets, but stopped after we moved him to Stellenbosch. He was curious about them, but then left them. Since the tank is newish, and I'm more concerned about water quality than feeding him dry food, I haven't tried again. I do plan to though, and I might invest in a variety of pellets to try on him.

I'm currently feeding him live fish, frozen lance fish, and frozen bloodworms. He does, however, rather like tadpoles. Apparently it's part of their natural diets, and he certainly agrees! Those amphibians better start breeding in my pond again soon...

Mine is about 4 years old now; when I bought him he didn't have gills, and he was just over 15cm. Lazy or not, still a great fish :)

Mine didn't take to the idea of pellets at first, although when he was smaller he took Tetra Prima. Now that he's bigger I'm having a hard time finding big enough dry foods, and so far sinking cichlid pellets seem to suit him fine. I really wish there was more range of foods for him though!

And now I'm keen to try feeding mine tadpoles... the Senegal polypterus liked them :p

Ah so he must be in his lazier phase of life. Definitely still a cool fish - a predator ready in ambush.

It would be nice if they made bichir pellets. I guess there isn't enough of a target market, or a set size that would be good for them :/

If you are ever in cape Town when the local toads are breeding in my pond, you're welcome to collect some. Although, most of the tadpoles I get in my pond would be too small for your guy. Maybe he can have a toad :)

I'm good with the tadpoles - every summer we get them by the thousands. Though I'll take up that offer to swing by your place to check out your tanks sometime. :)

PS: I'd back up from the toad idea - a lot of the local species have some degree of defensive toxins, which your fish won't appreciate too much...

The offer is there, but the tanks are Stellenbosch, an hours drive from the pond. :) I've just moved out. ^^

Yeah, I was worried about feeding him toads. They just seem so harmless. I can catch them with my bare hands no problem. If I could identify them maybe that would help, but they are pretty average toads, and I can't get a clear match.
