Hey i have a 100 liter (29 gallon long) standing around as it was too big for the living room.
Im going to cut it smaller about 30 liters or more.

What fish can i stock? Will be a planted tank with liquid ferts.
I want one betta or display fish and a school of fish or more.

Please advise before i cut the tank i want to know if 30 liters can house a school of fish. (What fish can i look at?)

Order the Elite - Hush 5 Clip On Filter. Should be enough flow and with the plants it should take care of ammonia and other waste

Might be easier just to source a 70 L tank?

Some of the smaller Tetras or Rosbara?

I have a glass cutter and i want it in the living room (limited space). So ill cut the length to fit a specific area and start from there

Plants and one betta is about all you can do or maybe a trio of guppys 30l is hardly more than a goldfish bowl and it realy limits you, I suppose you could try some shrimp?

The only limiting factor is the space in the living room. I'll measure out and find out by my parents what space is available for me than push for a 40l

    Got myself sorted out (partially)
    Tank will be 32(L)x50(W)x35(H).
    Give me +-56l.

Now can i get some suggestions. Made the mistake of ordering the filter so I'll have to think about how i can improve it.

Way to small for betta sorority. For that you need a large heavily planted tank with a lot of other fish. Not something for a 30 litre

Quite similar to neons just not as fragile

I might go with a community tank. Right now i'm focused on the plants and scaping.

But i would post my possible list once i compile it. Any 5cm fish suggestion?

I had neon tetras and glo light tetras in the 100 liter. Pencil fish look cool im up for that.
I would love fish that pop, tank will be white and black and greens of the plants

I think neon tetra is on the list, pencil fish most definitely.
Any plain black or plain white fish?

a school of rummy noses would be cool.

Also cardinals are much more eye catching the neon or glowlight tetras

Each to his / her own - I personally think if one really loves the neon blue colour, I would definitely go for the neon tetras. But with neons, you can also bring the risk of neon tetra disease. For some reason, they seem to be the most fragile fish of all tetras - this according to my research when I was looking for fish - http://www.theaquariumguide.com/articles/neon-tetra-disease

Other than that, two blue neon gobies would be a nice addition and they also eat a lot of algae so it would be a bonus if your tank suddenly gets an algae problem, the gobies will take care of it - http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+836+3011&pcatid=3011

I wish I could take every fish. They al similar just colour difference so ill take a school that suite my scape.

neon gobies look cool (definitly on my list). Neon tetras has an advantage as I already owned 7 or 8 and like their personality (mine weren't shy)

Not my taste (finage but love the back and white. Might look at a few videos to see how they interact

Sweet, already had my eye on them

There's only so much fish i can fit in my tank, I made it 55 cm which pumped me up to 14 gallon (55 liters). Have to state, tank will have an emersed section which lower water capacity.

Lol there's so many fish to choose. Took me more than 5 years to decide that I'm getting bumblebee and neon blue gobies. My first choice was neon tetras but i have 3 tanks so i might just get tetras when I've sorted my lighting issues out
