    Hi all

    Finally i can post some pics of my 360l 4ft wooden tank.

    No plants! Yay! Really wanted a plantless tank and with my fish choice it works.

    I want to add something but i don't know what...seeking help:pTank is plain and empty

    Currently iv got 2 heaters 300w and 200w....both on max lol 24.5 is what i get during the night. As this tank is outside i cant get a good temp with just a 300w or 200w heater.
    Filter is a sump with a 2000lph return pump
    and only one 30w light will add another soon.

    Fish: 4 tinfoil barbs, 3 bala sharks and 5 tiger barbs.

    Heres a few pics...still need to hide the wires and add heaters to sump

    Looking good .. actually job well done.

    You know the blanket trick- Another thing is bubble wrap - esp if you want the fish to have some sense of day and night.

    Failing to do that the heater are going to run almost 24/7.

    Decided to go through these pics now. And wow my tinfoil barbs have grown!

    Experimenting with vallis...growing way to fast! Temp problem is sorted. Managing to keep a steady 25.
    Thats one problem sorted...next on is lights. Once i get the two lids down i can mount 2 lights on each...right now they are just hanging IN the tank.
    Not a lekke feeling when you forget they in there and decide to stick your hand in...OUCH!

    Going to trim after work and try get Zoom's wood down with a rock or something...

    Hmm - that should not happen with just T8 / T5 tubes in the water .. Think you might have another peace of kit that is causing the OUCH via the lights .. can you switch pump and heaters off - unplug them from the socket and see if still does that?

    Yeap around the tank. I did on all my tanks in 2009s winter blanket3.JPG

    Hehe so i must sacrifice myself?

    I turned the lights off (not unplugged) and get a slight current running trough my fingers. Unplugged it goes away....so yeah its the lights.

    Will sort it out this weekend or some other time.

    Not a bad idea. Will try it in my new fish room...YAY!

    Update.

    Finally got the time to make this new sump.
    Got the tank from slojo, just added two pieces of glass i got from a cracked 1ft tank. Different design to normal sumps but works the same.
    And yes, the front pane i made up of 2 different pieces!

    2 Are for the return line, which gets connected like this

    And enters the tank here

    Small close up on the triangle compartment.

    Played around with the camera and took this. Unfortunately the pic is ruined by the reflection.

    Very nice. I'm going to have to add another pump to my sump sometime.

    thats alot of pumps in there. do you think making the 2 pumps push against each other like that incrases the water volume they pump more than if you ran 2 seperate lines?

    @TroyFish... look at this scenario:
    Pump 1 pumps at 500lph through 15mm hose
    pump 2 pumpt at 600lph through 15mm hose

    Combining those 2 hoses into 1 15mm hose as you have done is not going to give you 1100lph... in fact, all you are getting is an average between them.. (550lph), and 2 pumps acting against each other. (shorter lifespan.) If you only want one pipe going into the display tank, it would be better to have 15mm from each pipe, and join them into a 22mm pipe.

    @Zoom

    Makes sense...The flow did increase but will have them run on a separate line (As thats all i can do atm) to see the difference in water returned.

    Question: Will Activated carbon remove that brown tinge in the water?
