    We all know that Tropheus get intestinal problems when not receiving the correct diet.
    Let's get over the fear of keeping Tropheus. Have a read and absorb as much information as possible to better your Tropheus experience.

    "And what would be my all time favorite? Well that would have to be my group of Tropheus brichardi "kipili," talk about a tight knit pack, they are more entertaining than anything on TV, I can watch them for hours." - Pam Chin http://www.cichlidae.com/article.php?id=210

    Tropheus do have a bad rep.Mainly as being difficult to maintain in some sort of "peaceful" colony.
    I know of someone who took out a few excess fish from his ever growing colony.
    Upset the balance, and chaos ensued.

    The Red Chimba is fantastic.

    Tropheus are best kept in 500liter plus tanks in large colonies to help spread the aggression, this way the dominant individuals can't single out a victim to harass.
    It's never a good idea to upset an established community, especially with Tropheus.

    The sp. Red Chimba are fantastic, could you imagine them sharing a tank with the Tropheus moorii Lufubu... Fire & Ice.

    What do you do when they breed and there is over-crowding?

    Taking out the fry and leaving the original colony would be one option however it's usually the alpha male that controls things, removing him will cause chaos, would work if you having problems, but don't change the balance if it's works. It can be tricky when you make changes, numerous things could go wrong, paying attention to the tank and monitoring behavior is key...

    Another option (this option is not for the faint-hearted) would be to get an Altolamprologus or two... Altolamprologus are opportunist, excellent at hunting fry, their slim lined body allows them to get in between the tightest crevice where majority of fry hide.
    Another tank-mate renowned for keeping fry at bay would be the Synodontis multipunctatus "Cockoo Catfish".

    @Jack Stone,

    Tbh, I don't know what this chap took out of his tank.
    Probably one of the dominant males by the sounds of it

    Thanks for the info
