    Hi all.

To the point,i will be going to johannesburg tomorrow to pick up 2 full grown Oscars,i need to know how i can transport them and if i can add anything to their container that might help with stress relief, the trip back will be +- 1 hour so do i need a filter while i transport them or will they be fine for 1 hour?

Anything i missed?,then please fill me in.

    Thanks in advance.

No feeding tonight and tomorrow before the trip
    This will lessen the poop
    no filter needed
use clean fresh water at a good temp
    Stress Guard by Seachem works

Best thing i think to do is get a big enough bag for them, then put it in a bucket so it
doesn't roll over and disturb them. 1hr should be fine as long as there is air in the bag.
Open bucket should also do fine if you dont mind a mess from splashing water, if any.

Been told its best to have a lid (if using a bucket) to reduce stress.

Troy,i just want to point out to you and others that you cannot transport large oscard in a plastic bag.Believe me that the bag will look like a sieve before long.Large oscars will puncture the bags easy with their spines on their dorsal fins.

Stormer a 50liter container will be sufficient.

Some oxygen tablets in the container would also help.

50L is a bit small in my opinion especially for 2 fully grown oscars!

you should buy another 50L container they are not expensive , I paid 120 for a 80L and it comes in handy when doing water changes etc.

if you use the 50L you can also buy a product called stress coat if you can't find the other product .
maybe buy a battery power air pump (60 rand) and place a air stone in the container with them , jhb often has traffic so take that into consideration .

add what I said to everything else that was said by khalid and slojo .

    cheers

I used a big dust bin with a few black plastic bags in and filled it with water from the tank. So the container should be nice and dark and they can't see anything and shouldn't stress to much.

Hey buddy I would use a large container, water at half the level of the container, line the container with a garbage bag(reduces stress and the activity of the fish, helps with energy or heat retention as well and I use aquasafe)advisable to transport 1 fish per container seeing that you mentioned that these guys are fully grown.tie up the bag at the top and you good to go
