To much biological filtration?

I have about 3 weeks ago set up and above the tank diy sump filter or what ever it may be called u can have a look at the diy section. The fish look better than ever and the tank is almost spotless hardly any visible algae. I saw very large tanks with similar setups with not even half the same amout of bio media. I have abt 1.5kg of ceramic rings in the filter. This is for a 70l tank my question is can u have to much biofiltration can it actually be bad for the tank or the more the better. Thanks

 

You can never have too much biological filtering.

The lack of, or insufficient biological filtration, will be detrimental to you fish. The minimum amount of biological filtration required, will be determined by they stocking density and type of fish that you have in your tank. So if you take that into account, you can never have to much biological filtration.

 

Ok cool thanks for all the help. I picked up some bioballs today from my lfs can I just pop them into the filter that's been going 3 weeks now or should I add a few everyday or every second day etc I don't no if this would start a new cycle or mini cycle any ideas thanks.

 

Just put all of them in.
